sometimes, all it takes is sitting with someone in the midst of their pain. it’s not trying to find a solution, it’s not trying relate to them, or bring about when you felt similar. it’s merely listening, or just being with them.

sitting still, and acknowledging that both your hearts are beating and your cells are multiplying. that you are both there in this specific moment in time, and it’s okay despite everything else that’s going on around you.

your mind is emptied, and you’re just still. you’re there. you’re present.

sometimes, all it takes is sitting with someone in the midst of their hurt. silence speaks volumes. touch means something, maybe all they need is for you to hold their hand. maybe all they need is for you to hold them and hug them, tight. maybe all they need is for you to know that you’re there, that you’ll be there regardless of the circumstances. sometimes, all it takes is outstretching your hand, and opening your heart and just being

still.

to acknowledge that moment and cherish it. it’s now, it’s happening and it’s okay. it’s going to be okay. you’ve gotten through the worst part, and you’ll get through tomorrow.

sometimes, all it takes is sitting with someone in the midst of their pain, in their silence, in their hurt, in their anger, in their anguish, in their frustration. sometimes, all it takes is

just being there.
